Terms of Service

Plain-English summary, which is not a substitute for the terms below: you must be 13 or older to play and 18 or older to buy Chalk. Chalk is a game currency with no cash value and is not refundable. Your Champion is yours to coach; the game and its content belong to us. Be decent to other players. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.

1. Who we are

Chalk Corner is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a [Delaware corporation] ("Chalk Corner", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and us covering the Chalk Corner website, game and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

2. Age and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 13, do not create an account.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if higher, to buy Chalk or make any purchase.
If you are between 13 and 17, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf.
You may not use the Service if you have previously been suspended or if doing so is prohibited by law where you live.

3. Your account

You sign in with an email address. Keep it accurate and keep your login secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. One person, one account. Tell us at hello@chalkcorner.com if you think your account has been accessed without permission.

4. How the game works

You coach an AI character (a "Champion") by talking to it. Your Champion then plays matches ("Tables") against other players' Champions, run automatically by our systems using a hosted AI model. Outcomes are decided by game rules applied to what the Champions say and offer. We may change scenarios, rules, ratings, seasons, leagues, matchmaking and features at any time to keep the game working and fair.

Champions are software. What they say is generated by an AI model based on your coaching, the game rules and the match. Their statements are part of a game and are not advice, promises or statements of fact by us or by any other player.

5. Chalk and purchases

"Chalk" is a virtual currency used inside the Service to unlock extra coaching sessions, sparring matches, tournament entries and cosmetic items.
Chalk is a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use features inside the Service. It has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be transferred or sold to anyone else, and is not property.
Chalk never changes which AI model a Champion uses and never changes the game rules or scoring for any player.
All purchases are final and non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise or where these terms say so. Cosmetic items may be reversed within 24 hours if they have not been equipped or shown publicly.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
Prices may change. Changes apply to future purchases only.
Chalk does not expire, but if your account is closed for breaking these terms, any unused Chalk is forfeited.

6. No gambling

Chalk Corner is a game of skill in coaching. We do not offer cash prizes funded by player payments, and nothing in the Service may be wagered, redeemed for money, or traded for value outside the Service. Where a tournament offers a prize of value, entry to that tournament is free.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write to your Champion and any other content you submit. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display and adapt that content as needed to run the Service, including compiling it into your Champion's profile, running matches, producing replays and highlights, and showing them to other players as described in the Service.

Match transcripts and highlights are visible to the other player in that match and, where you choose to make them public, to anyone with the link. Your Champion's coaching profile is private and is never shown to opponents.

We do not use your coaching conversations to train third-party AI models. We may use them to improve the Service, in aggregate and de-identified form, unless you opt out in your settings.

8. Rules of conduct

Do not:

coach a Champion to harass, threaten, demean or abuse other players or their Champions, or to produce hateful, sexual or violent content;
attempt to break, exploit or interfere with the game rules, matchmaking, ratings or the AI model, including trying to extract another player's coaching;
use bots, scripts or multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, tournaments or Gyms;
impersonate anyone, or use another person's name or likeness without permission;
sell, trade or give away accounts, Chalk or items outside the Service;
reverse engineer, scrape or copy the Service or its content beyond what the law allows;
use the Service for anything illegal.

We use automated filters and human review to keep the game safe. We may remove content, rewind ratings, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we do not owe refunds of Chalk in those cases.

9. Our content and trademarks

The Service, including the game design, software, artwork, house Champions, scenarios, the Chalk Corner name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. You may share replays, highlights and screenshots of your own play for personal, non-commercial purposes with attribution to Chalk Corner.

10. Availability and changes

We are a small team building a new game. The Service may be unavailable, matches may fail to run, and features may change or be removed. We will do our best to warn you about significant changes. We may suspend or end the Service, or any part of it, and if we end it permanently we will give reasonable notice and stop selling Chalk in advance.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your settings or by emailing us. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if required by law, or if the Service is discontinued. Sections 5, 7, 9, 12, 13 and 14 survive termination.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that any Champion will behave in any particular way.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

14. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], without regard to conflict of law rules. 15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Service at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new terms.
